Visit ZapierWhat we love
- Free plan runs 100 tasks a month with unlimited two-step Zaps
- More than 10,000 apps in its directory
- Filters, Formatter, Paths and Delay steps don't use up tasks
- Pro adds AI by Zapier steps and every premium app
- New accounts get a 14-day Pro trial with no card
The catch
- Free Zaps are two steps only and check for new data every 15 minutes
- Pro's $19.99 price covers 750 tasks a month; more tasks cost more
- Extra tasks are billed automatically unless you switch pay-per-task off
- Paying month to month makes Pro $29.99 instead of $19.99
What it does for a one-person business
Zapier watches for something to happen in one app and then does the follow-up work in your others. That's a Zap: one trigger, then one or more actions. A new form entry can become a contact in your CRM, a row in your spreadsheet and a note to you, and you never copy and paste a thing.
Its directory lists more than 10,000 apps, so the tools you already pay for are very likely on it.
Free or Pro?
Start free. You get 100 tasks a month and as many two-step Zaps as you like, which covers jobs like "new sale, tell me about it". Free Zaps check for new data every 15 minutes, which is fine for anything that can wait a little.
Upgrade when a workflow needs a third step, a filter or a premium app. Pro is $19.99 a month billed yearly, or $29.99 month to month, for 750 tasks. It checks every 2 minutes and adds AI by Zapier steps. New accounts get 14 days of Pro free with no card, so you can build the real thing before you pay a cent.
How tasks work
You pay for tasks, and a task is one action that finished successfully. Triggers don't count, failed steps don't count, and neither do built-in tools like Filter, Formatter, Paths and Delay. A few steps cost more than one task, such as AI steps on bigger models and Zapier MCP tool calls.
AI agents are billed on their own: Free includes 400 agent activities a month and Pro 1,500, and none of it comes out of your tasks.
Keep an eye on your limit
On paid plans, pay-per-task billing is on by default if you joined Zapier after January 2024. Run past your monthly tasks and your Zaps keep going, with the extra tasks added to your next invoice, up to three times your plan's limit. That's great on the week a launch takes off, and less great if a Zap gets stuck in a loop. Your Billing settings show the exact rate, and you can switch pay-per-task off there if you'd rather your Zaps stop until your tasks reset.
When to pick something else
If your workflows run thousands of steps a month, price the same job in Make and n8n before you commit. Make lets you lay a complicated workflow out on one visual canvas, and n8n can run on your own server.

Questions people ask
Is Zapier free?
Yes. The Free plan includes 100 tasks a month and unlimited two-step Zaps, Tables and Forms. Multi-step Zaps, premium apps and AI steps need Pro, from $19.99 a month billed yearly.
What counts as a task in Zapier?
One action that finishes successfully, like adding a spreadsheet row. Triggers, failed steps and built-in tools such as Filter, Formatter, Paths and Delay don't count.
What happens if I go over my task limit?
On paid plans with pay-per-task billing on, your Zaps keep running and the extra tasks are added to your next invoice, up to three times your plan's limit. Turn it off in Billing settings and your Zaps stop until your tasks reset instead.
Can I try Zapier Pro before paying?
Yes. New accounts get a 14-day Professional trial, and you don't need a credit card.
Does Zapier have AI features?
Yes. Pro adds AI by Zapier steps and AI fields, Copilot helps you build Zaps (unlimited on Pro, a daily limit on Free), and AI agents come with 400 activities a month on Free and 1,500 on Pro.
